She is fergalicious! Josh Duhamel and Fergie’s first interaction could have been a disaster, the Transformers star admitted during his appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Tuesday, Nov. 3. But luckily, the hunky star’s sweaty palms and nerves worked to his advantage, and he joked about the simple pickup line he used when he met his now wife.
Duhamel, 42, explained he first laid eyes on the “L.A. Love” singer, 40, when he watched a Black Eyed Peas music video on TV back in 2004. At the time, he was hanging out with then-couple Enrique Murciano and Molly Sims.
“[Murciano was] like, ‘Look at this girl. She shakes it like she wants a career,'” Duhamel recalled to Corden and fellow guest Kelly Osbourne. “And I was like, ‘Wow, she really is cute. Who is this?'”
The Safe Haven actor was so taken by Fergie that he asked his Las Vegas producers if the band could appear on the show. (Duhamel played Danny McCoy on the drama from 2003 to 2008.) And like that, the group taped an episode in Season 2.
“I was really nervous and that was my moment of truth. I laid out my outfit the night before,” Duhamel said, laughing. “It was a big build to the moment that I could finally talk to her. And all I could say was, ‘You’re hot.'”
Five years later, the couple tied the knot in a lavish L.A. ceremony in January 2009. They welcomed their 2-year-old son, Axl Jack, in August 2013.
