Julie Bowen and her husband of 12 years, Scott Phillips, are too worn out to break up, the Modern Family actress recently joked to Us Weekly.
“We watch all these people get married and split up and go, ‘Wait, did they get married after us or before us?’” Bowen, 46, exclusively told Us Saturday, September 24, at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s 47th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards in West Hollywood. “We outlast all these people. The answer: We’re too tired to do anything else!”
After all, juggling three kids can be exhausting. “It isn’t easy getting four males to sit down at a table,” joked the mom of Oliver, 9, and twins John and Gustav, 7. “They just drool and eat. They’re like, ‘I’m just going to walk back and forth, drop crap on the floor while I’m eating.’ I’m like, ‘Sit!’ Gussy, he eats everything and he’s hungry after. He’s always eating so much!”
Since they’ve developed an undying love for food, Bowen has enlisted her sons to help prepare their school lunches. “I’ll do make-your-own Lunchables with the kids,” she explained. “It’s Ritz Crackers or Wheat Thins and then meat and cheese. They liked to make them! They cut out little squares and put them together. It’s fun!”
Her leading guys are among her proudest accomplishments. “At first I loved my husband and then I loved the kids and now I love our family,” gushed Bowen. “When I see my husband with my kids, it makes me so happy. When I see my kids all sitting down at the table together, I’m like ‘This is awesome. We did this!’”
