His heart is reserved for America’s other sweetheart! Kate Hudson explained what exactly went down behind the scenes of her headline-making dinner “date” with NFL player J.J. Watt, which the pair documented via Snapchat last week — and it turns out the two were trolling everyone.
“We actually just have the same agent,” Hudson told Entertainment Tonight. “We were at, like, a big dinner. It’s just what happens.”
The Mother’s Day actress, 37, and Watt, 27, detailed their flirtatious exchange on Hudson’s popular Snapchat account on Monday, April 11. During the dinner, the pair used the app’s various (and highly amusing) filters while Watt joked of Hudson at one point: “Apparently the stars belong to the hottest one on the date.”
Watt’s heart, after all, belongs to Hudson’s Mother’s Day costar Jennifer Aniston. The Houston Texans defensive end became a trending topic on the internet last July after he met the Friends star randomly at their shared talent agency, CAA, in L.A. and posted a photo with his lifelong celebrity crush.
“It was incredible,” Watt subsequently told Us Weekly of his encounter with Aniston, who is happily married to Justin Theroux since August 2015. “She was so sweet. She was awesome. Everybody has kind of known for a long time that she was the one person that I’ve wanted to meet … I’m thankful that she was so cool because I was not.”
Watt joked with Us that there were some things he would’ve redone from that meeting.
“If I went back – if there was like a tape of it and I could watch it again, there are many things that I would do differently,” he told Us at the Gatorade Athlete of the Year Awards last July. “But no, I shook her hand and we had a conversation, so I don’t think that I completely botched it. But she was very sweet and I had a good time … I basically needed somebody to say, ‘Breathe. Keep breathing.’ She was beautiful. Yeah. She’s beautiful. She was sweet. She was nice. It was great… I mean Rachel Green? I’m a big fan. So she’s awesome!”
