Kelly Clarkson won't be putting out any angsty breakup tunes for a while.
As Us Weekly first reported in March, the singer, 30, has been dating 35-year-old Nashville-based talent manager Brandon Blackstock–the son of her manager, Narvel Blackstock, and Reba McEntire's stepson–since late last year.
Earlier this week, Clarkson opened up about the effect her relationship is having on her songwriting.
"I'm too happy! He's ruining my creativity!" Clarkson joked to Us Weekly at a roundtable for ABC's new singing competition, Duets. "I'm writing all this happy sh–! It's killing me."
Added the "Since You've Been Gone" singer, "I try to write a tough song and it comes out like butterflies and rainbows. People are going to be like, 'What the hell happened to you?' It's difficult. But awesome! I'm not complaining. It's an awesome problem to have."
Clarkson says she's thrilled about where she is right now–professionally and personally. "I'm so happy now," she shared. "I love that I'm in a relationship right now . . .I want a life. . . The past five years or so I've found my groove and my balance."
An insider close to the Grammy winner–who split from singer Graham Colton six years ago–tells Us Blackstock couldn't have come along at a better time for the previously unlucky-in-love Clarkson.
"Before Brandon, Kelly had a really tough time with love," the source revealed. "He is just what she needed."
Tune in for Duets' series premiere, airing Thursday, May 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC
