Great minds think alike? Three months after Kanye West compared his fiancee Kim Kardashian to Marilyn Monroe, the rapper's designer friend, Riccardo Tisci, is seconding the claim.
Tisci, the 39-year-old creative director of Givenchy, called Kardashian, 33, the modern day Monroe in a Feb. 23 interview with London's The Sunday Times. "I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend," Tisci said (via Elle magazine). "I just wanted a moment with her to understand — and I fell in love. She's the Monroe of our age. People think she's like a doll, but actually she's tough and clever." (Tisci has since been close friends with the couple, and created their complementary looks for the 2013 Met Gala.)
The comparison between the reality star and Hollywood legend was first made by Kardashian's own husband-to-be back in November during a radio interview with Hot 97.
"I have a love hate relationship with the paparazzi but actually I love them because they empower us over, ya know?," West, 36, said. "They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain't Marilyn Monroe. Kim is Marilyn Monroe, you know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial."
