Keeping things transparent. Kim Kardashian opened up about her ongoing struggles with psoriasis in a new post to her app Wednesday, August 31, calling the condition her “big flaw.”
“Since I was first diagnosed with psoriasis in 2010, I’ve been pretty open about my struggles with it,” the 35-year-old reality star wrote. “I have that one patch on my right leg that is most visible. I don’t even really try to cover it that much anymore. Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it?”
Kardashian first realized that she had the skin condition after visiting a dermatologist on a 2011 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The first time her psoriasis flared up, she wrote, she was attending the DASH store opening in New York and thought the breakout was due to the sequin dress she was wearing.
“I thought it was just a rash caused by the fabric, but then the rash was COVERING my legs and my mom was like, ‘I think you have psoriasis!!!’ She has it, too, and it’s hereditary, so she spotted the symptoms immediately,” the Selfish author continued.
The gaming mogul detailed how one of her neighbors in West Hollywood happened to be a dermatologist and that he recommended she get cortisone shots — in the butt — to “help combat the inflammation.”
“So now, every few years, I get a cortisone shot to help combat the inflammation from my psoriasis,” she wrote.
Earlier this month, the mother of two came clean about her injections during a livestream, slamming rumors that she’s been getting injections to maintain the size of her famous derriere.
“There is a picture of me in Miami wearing an electric blue dress, and another picture of me walking down Robertson,” she said during the August 15 livestream. “You see the indent. And I think that’s when the rumors started: ‘She’s had implants.’”
