Kristin Cavallari’s older brother, Michael Cavallari, was found dead on Thursday, Dec. 10, just three days after he was first reported missing. He was 30 years old.

“We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," the former reality star said in a statement to Us Weekly. "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

According to a press release from the Grand County Sheriff's Department, Michael's body was found around 10:30 a.m. in a "steep and very rocky area" just off the I-70.

The body is currently being transported to the Office of the Utah Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death, the release states.

Michael was last seen on the day after Thanksgiving — Friday, Nov. 27 — when his abandoned 2014 Honda Civic was found on a highway in Grand County, Utah.

Authorities noted that the car was registered to someone who lived in San Clemente, Calif., but no driver was found.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s arrest record, Michael had been arrested on Nov. 23 for making criminal threats just four days prior to his disappearance. He was released on bail on Nov. 25.

Amidst the ordeal, Cavallari, 28, thanked fans for their support via a touching throwback Instagram post on Monday, Dec. 7.

"I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family," the former Hills star captioned the shot. "We remain hopeful and I will share any news that we receive. I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."
