Eighteen was truly Kylie Jenner’s year. Kris Jenner’s youngest child — finally legal! — both went public with her older boyfriend, Tyga, and launched her uber-successful career as a contour, lip-lining, makeup connoisseur. In honor of her 19th birthday on Wednesday, August 10, Us Weekly Video relives six times that Kylie kaused a kommotion.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians starlet sparked headlines after she displayed a plumper pout last year. The transformed reality star finally admitted to having her lips enhanced during a May 2015 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
“I have temporary lip fillers, it’s just an insecurity of mine and it’s what I wanted to do,” the teen explained at the time. “I’m just not ready to talk [about it yet] … everyone always picks us apart. I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything, so I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn’t lie.”
She also tiptoed around her romance with Tyga, who was previously engaged to Blac Chyna (who is now engaged to and expecting a child with Rob Kardashian … ).
Jenner dubbed the rapper her “best friend” until her 18th birthday last August, which they celebrated together and went public with their relationship in Mexico.
“I’m not dating Kylie, I just want to get that out the way,” Tyga claimed during a February 2015 interview on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. “I want to be clear to everybody that I didn’t leave my family to be with Kylie. That’s ridiculous.”
In reality, the pair had been cozying up behind the scenes long before they went public — let’s not forget when brother-in-law Kanye West blew their cover just a week after Tyga’s interview during his own February 20, 2015, chat with The Breakfast Club.
“I think [Tyga] got in early,” West said at the time, confirming that then 17-year-old Jenner was dating then 25-year-old Tyga. “I think he was smart.”
