It’s a role she can really sink her teeth into! A source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that Lady Gaga will play a several-hundred-year-old bloodsucker in FX’s American Horror Story: Hotel.
"Her character is the hotel owner and the mother of 10 identical vampires who are 8 years old," explains a show insider. “They’re played by children and are very creepy!”
Show creator Ryan Murphy has said these aren't your typical bloodthirsty fiends, though — so don't expect Robert Pattinson in Twilight, or even old-school Dracula. “I prefer the term ‘ancient blood virus,’” he told EW. “It’s not vampires. It’s really a form of hemophilia in a way. There’s no capes and fangs.”
Murphy revealed at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour earlier this month that the name of Gaga’s character is Elizabeth. "She owns the hotel, and she is sort of a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people," he dished. "She has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode."
When cameras weren’t rolling, Mother Monster, 29, was anything but horrific. “After the first day of shooting, Gaga went out of her way to meet and chat with everyone,” the insider tells Us. "She was really awesome and couldn’t have been nicer."
American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
