Laura Prepon is mourning the loss of her brother, Brad Prepon, after his sudden death at age 48.
“This past weekend, we laid my brother to rest,” Laura, 46, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, August 5. “He passed away suddenly from an unknown heart condition — it was a devastating shock.”
In her emotional tribute, Laura reflected on her brother’s impact on his loved ones.
“For those of you who knew Brad, I’m so happy he touched your lives,” she continued. “For those who didn’t, we lost a singular, beautiful, inimitable force. I will miss my brother every day, and carry him in my heart always.”
The actress concluded: “If you feel something may be off, please listen to your instinct and get it checked out. Hug the ones you love.”
An obituary for Brad revealed he died “suddenly” on July 15 in Orange County, California. A funeral service celebrating Brad’s life was held on Saturday, August 1, in New Jersey.
“Brad moved to California in 2002 and made his home in Costa Mesa. California suited him. He carried himself with a distinctive sense of style and confidence and had an appreciation for the finer things in life,” read his obituary. “Handsome and impeccably presented, Brad possessed a timeless, debonair quality. He was equally comfortable in a tuxedo or athletic attire and had an effortless presence that was entirely his own.”
Throughout Brad’s life, “health, wellness, and physical fitness were paramount.”
“A remarkable tennis player, he brought athleticism, discipline, and determination to the court. These qualities extended into every part of his life. When Brad committed himself to something, he did so completely,” the tribute continued. “Brad cherished being surrounded by his family. He loved the tradition of holiday gatherings, time with his sisters, and friends. He especially enjoyed the energy of a night on the town. Brad loved great food, great music, and a fun party. His unique personality and unmistakable presence made him someone people noticed and would not soon forget.”
Brad’s obituary shed light on each side of his personality, noting, “Beneath Brad’s polished exterior was an introspective and contemplative seeker. As much as he loved a night out, he was just as happy being lost in a book. Ever the inner alchemist, Brad enjoyed gaining knowledge, incorporating it into his life, and forging his own path.”
The eulogy concluded: “Brad will be remembered through the qualities that made him uniquely himself. He was a singular, inimitable force, who touched the hearts of many. He will be truly missed.”
Brad was one of Laura’s four siblings, along with Danielle, Stephanie and Jocelyn.
