The series, which premiered in July of last year, saw the pair (who made headlines for getting together while they were still married to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively) open up their lives to viewers to show what really went on inside their relationship.

In the first episode, the pair addressed their controversial meeting, with Rimes insisting she was no "homewrecker," and promising fans they’d get to see the other side of the story by watching the series.

"This show gave us an opportunity to take back our lives in a way and show a different side of us than what people really believe," Rimes explained when the series premiered. "Look, if their minds are changed or opened or whatever, that's wonderful. But if not, I don't think we're really set up to change anyone's mind," she insisted.

Turns out Rimes, 32, and Cibrian, 41, only had one season to change perceptions. But as news of the cancellation broke, the “How Do I Live” singer was showing her defiant, persistent side by sharing an inspirational message with fans via Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

"Built….from the ground up," the message, written on a blackboard, read.

"And proud of it," the singer captioned the message. "#stillbuilding #since5yearsold lol #letsdothis #strength #persistent #dreambig."
