Lil Wayne announced his engagement to Madi Cannon, who is 21 years his junior.
The rapper, 44, appeared to confirm the news in an Instagram video on Tuesday, September 29, while congratulating fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on his own engagement to Brooke Jones.
“Congratulations, bitch,” Lil Wayne said to the camera before pointing over his shoulder at Madi, 23, who smiled and waved as she offered her own congratulations.
“And I’m marrying this one — this is Madison,” Lil Wayne explained. “This is my fiancée.”
The “Lollipop” rapper continued, “Let us know what color we’re wearing. I’m the best man, you hear me? Love you, bitch.”
B.G., 46, who shared the video on his page, captioned the post, “My lil Brodie gave me his blessings @liltunechi.”
Us reached out to reps for Lil Wayne for comment.
The announcement comes two months after Lil Wayne denied that he had gotten engaged.
“I would like to clear something up,” he said during a livestream in July. “No, I’m not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going on with an amazing person, but, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered, I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part. Sucks.”
Cannon is an influencer with more than 79,000 followers on Instagram.
Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) is a father to four kids with four different women: daughter Reginae, 27, with Toya Johnson; son Dwayne III, 17, with Sarah Vivan; son Kameron, 17, with Lauren London; and son Neal, 16, with Nivea. He and Johnson, 42, were married from 2004 to 2006, while he and Nivea, 44, were engaged from 2002 to 2003.
Lil Wayne has been engaged multiple other times throughout his career, including to Trina from 2005 to 2007, Dhea Sodano from 2012 to 2019 and Denise Bidot from 2021 to 2022.
In July, Nivea revealed that she was diagnosed with blood cancer.
“I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year,” she said during an episode of Cadillac Chronicles. “I am so grateful to God. I am going through treatment.”
The “Don’t Mess With My Man” singer continued, “Everything is going great so far, and I expect it to continue. Amen. Amen. Amen! I’m very grateful for life. It’s so cliche to say, ‘You don’t know the time nor the hour,’ but it’s true. It just helped me put a lot of things into perspective.”
