Lindsay Lohan paid tribute to the late Patty Duke with a fitting Instagram post on Tuesday, March 29. The Parent Trap actress, 29, shared a memorable quote from the former Patty Duke Show star.
“🙏For the first time, I lived alone… in a luxury apartment on Sunset Strip. For a few days I loved the idea, but I got lonely and restless.🙏 God bless #pattyduke for her honesty – I was there once years ago… Love you. Always. 💯 #ripPattyDuke,” the troubled star, who now resides in London with her boyfriend, Egor Tarabasov, shared alongside a black-and-white photo of Duke from her Oscar-winning role as Helen Keller in 1962’s The Miracle Worker. Like Lohan, Duke began her acting career as a child.
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Duke died on Tuesday, March 29 at age 69. Her rep, Mitchell Stubbs, confirmed the news via a statement to USA Today, revealing that Duke’s cause of death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine.
“She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental health advocate and a cultural icon. She will be missed,” Stubbs' statement read.
Duke — who suffered from bipolar disorder — is survived by her husband Michael Pearce and her three children Kevin Pearce, 28, Sean Astin, 45, and Mackenzie Astin, 42.
Along with LiLo, Duke’s famous sons Sean and Mackenzie joined fellow actors such as Elijah Wood and Octavia Spencer to mourn the actress on social media.
