Lindsay Lohan doesn’t need a calendar to remember what day it is today. On Saturday, Oct. 3, the former Mean Girls star posted a funny snap to Instagram in honor of the beloved 2004 cult classic.
In the film, the 29-year-old actress plays Cady Heron, a wide-eyed, naive new girl who falls in with a crowd of (you guessed it) mean girls, and in the process falls for the school’s resident jock and heartthrob, Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett). And in the now-iconic scene, Aaron turns around to ask Cady what day it is, and Lohan-as-Cady responds with a goofy grin and, “It’s October 3rd.”
Fans of the movie have celebrated Oct. 3 of every year since as “Mean Girls Day,” and last year, the cast — including Amanda Seyfried, Tina Fey, Lacey Chabert, and Rachel McAdams — sat down to talk about the possibility of doing another film together.
“Oh God! I hadn’t thought about that!” McAdams said during the interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Yeah, I’d totally be up for that. Anything that Tina is at the helm of, I’d be into.”
Seyfried (who recently split from her boyfriend of two years, Justin Long) wasn’t so sure.
“No. No, because you can’t f—k with that,” she said. “You wouldn’t do a sequel to Rosemary’s Baby or any Woody Allen movie. You wouldn’t do a sequel to The Shining. I can’t believe I actually did compare Mean Girls to that — but, in its genre, it really is special.”
Lohan seemed on-board. “Why can’t we do a sequel?” she asked in the interview. “Of us all grown up. To work with everyone involved in Mean Girls again would be an honor. It was such a good experience. I think it would be really cool.”
