No regrets! Lindsey Vonn opened up to CNN in an interview on Friday, Nov. 27, and revealed that she has nothing but love for her famous ex-boyfriend Tiger Woods.
“I mean, I love him and I still love him,” she said of the PGA Tour champion. “I had an amazing three years with him. Sometimes things just don’t work out and unfortunately it didn’t work out for us.”
Vonn, 31, and Woods, 39, mutually called it quits on their relationship in May, citing their “hectic lives” as the main reason to pull the plug after nearly three years together.
The pair first met at a charity event in 2012 and went public with their relationship via Facebook in March 2013. (Vonn was perviously married to Thomas Vonn for four years, but the couple finalized their divorce at the beginning of 2013.)
Woods was famously married to model Elin Nordegren, but their marriage fell to pieces in 2010 after it was discovered that the pro golfer had numerous extramarital affairs.
Vonn told CNN that despite her very public split from Woods, however, she feels like both athletes are “in a pretty good place.”
“I’m enjoying just kind of focusing on myself right now,” she said. “I’ve realized that I only have, realistically, three good years of racing left. So it’s kind of nice to just focus on that and focus on my career. But I don’t know, you never know what’s going to happen.”
Vonn had to sit out the 2014 Winter Olypmpics after a serious knee injury, but returned to the sport last season, and has the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang in her sights.
Earlier this month, Vonn told Health magazine that she’s not ready for a family yet, and is looking forward to “more time” for herself.
“That’s what happens with most breakups,” she said, “you really look at yourself and figure out what makes you happy, and you also have a lot more free time.”
