More than four months after Lisa Robin Kelly died suddenly at age 43, questions about her untimely passing are finally being answered. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Department has ruled her cause of death to be "multiple drug intoxication," The Wrap reported Friday, Jan. 3.
Kelly died in August 2013, shortly after checking herself into rehab for substance-abuse issues. Details about the kinds of drugs found in her system were not provided, but the coroner's office said the death was accidental. A full report is not yet available.
The actress' death was preceded by months of legal troubles. In November 2012, she was arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband; she was also booked on suspicion of DUI in June 2013.
She seemed to want to get better, though. "Lisa had voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility early this week where she was battling the addiction problems that have plagued her these past few years," her agent said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time of her death.
"I spoke to her on Monday and she was hopeful and confident, looking forward to putting this part of her life behind her," the statement continued. "Last night she lost the battle."
