Tragic news out of New York City: Fashion designer L'Wren Scott was found dead of an apparent suicide in her Manhattan apartment on Monday, March 17. She was 47.
"We confirm the tragic death of L'Wren Scott," a spokesperson for her company said in a statement to Us Weekly. "At this devastating time for Ms. Scott's family and friends, we request that their privacy be respected. There will be no further public statement for the time-being."
The model — Mick Jagger's longtime girlfriend — was discovered hanging in her residence at around 10 a.m., police sources told the paper. The Medical Examiner's Office will determine cause of death, but a source told the Daily News that foul play is not suspected.
Scott founded her eponymous label in 2006. In the years since, she has become a red carpet favorite, outfitting celebs including Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and Amy Adams, all of whom have worn her designs to the Oscars. She also recently collaborated with Banana Republic.
A spokesperson for Scott's longtime love, Rolling Stones rocker Jagger, who is in Australia, tells Us Weekly he is "completely shocked and devastated by the news." The two have been romantically linked for more than a decade.
