The sixth season of Mad Men is quickly approaching, and the all-star cast of the hit AMC show stepped out en masse at the red carpet premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday, March 20. But make no mistake about it, the actors and actresses, however talented though they may be, are not their characters.
“I think as far as the times, there are contemporary times we parallel with those in the show. I find that fascinating,” Jon Hamm told Us (longtime girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt was his date for the evening). “But as far as parallels in me and Don — I think I deal with things significantly better than Don does!”
Including reports about his “distracting” anatomy? The 42-year-old actor recently made headlines after an AMC insider told the New York Daily News that Hamm was politely asked to please wear underwear during filming for this season, lest his anatomy throw off a scene.
“This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” a source told the paper. “Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.”
At Wednesday night’s premiere, however, it was more the ladies of the show who were stealing the spotlight.
Hamm’s former on-screen wife, January Jones, wore a baby blue-and-white calf-grazing Jonathan Saunders dress on the carpet, while Jessica Pare, who plays Hamm’s second wife on the show, stunned in a bright fuchsia-and-teal Prabal Gurung dress.
Elisabeth Moss, meanwhile, kept things simple in a low-cut black McQ frock that showed off her toned legs.
“We’ve all been through so many different stages of our lives and we’ve literally seen every single person in the cast go through so much personally and professionally and it’s incredible to watch people grow,” she told Us Weekly exclusively. “Ultimately, the coolest thing is everyone is still really cool and really nice and no’e one’s become an asshole! Everyone talks to each other and we’re all supportive of each other, seriously!”
