Madonna Says Ex-Husband Sean Penn Finally Appreciates Her Art After “30 F–king Years,” Wrote Her a Letter After Show: Watch the Video!

These two! Madonna and Sean Penn might just be the friendliest exes in Hollywood. The Queen of Pop opened up about her first ex-husband during her Rebel Heart Tour in Brooklyn on Saturday, Sept. 19.

“I did a show at Madison Square Garden the other night if you heard about it. And my ex-husband was there! Could you imagine?” Madonna, 57, told the crowd at the Barclays Center.

“He had been at my show 30 years earlier when I was at Madison Square Garden, and he was very upset with me for wearing a costume that was too revealing. That’s not a lie!” she mused of Penn, whom she divorced in 1989 after four famously rocky years of marriage. “Anyway, after the show he wrote me a letter and said he finally appreciates my art. And that is what I have to say about marriage, okay!? Thirty f–king years later.”

As previously reported, the Gangster Squad actor, 55, attended Madonna’s NYC concert on Sept. 17. The Oscar-winning actor also introduced his daughter, model Dylan Penn, to his ex backstage. (The Oscar winner shares Dylan, 24, and son Hopper, 22, with his second ex-wife, Robin Wright.)

“She had never met Madonna before, but Madonna was really sweet to her,” an insider previously told Us Weekly. “Madonna and Sean have stayed close friends over the years, so of course she embraced Dylan.”

Madonna’s longtime BFF has also come out to support her. On Saturday night, Younger actress Debi Mazar — a pal since Madonna’s pre-fame days — rocked out to the singer’s greatest hits in the front row. In honor of the special occasion, Madonna even dedicated the song “True Blue” to her. (Mazar, 51, appeared in the song’s 1986 music video.)
