The end of a Hollywood fairy tale. When an 18-year-old Megan Fox first met Brian Austin Green over 10 years ago — on set of her ABC sitcom Hope & Faith — “it was like magic,” she once said. Green, 13 years her senior, was equally as smitten. “She’s amazing,” he gushed that same year. “She’s just, she’s unique.”
Fox told Angeleno mag in 2012 that she was “instantly in love” with the actor. But in reality, the Transformers babe, now 29, wasn’t ready at the time to settle down with the man that would eventually father her two sons, Noah, 2, and Bodhi, 18 months, and they briefly split in 2009.
“She went through an enormous change in her life…just her career in general,” Green, now 42, recalled in a 2010 interview with Access Hollywood. “She went through the natural period of, ‘I’m not sure if I’m ready to be in such a settled relationship.’ [But] we just never really went in different directions,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum explained. “We’d say, ‘Oh, let’s kind of take a break and see what’s going on…[But] it always came back together.”
The couple went on to marry in a romantic June 2010 wedding in Hawaii, just 24 days after Green popped the question for a second time. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life,” he said of their marriage. “It was the absolute perfect start to what we hope will be an amazing life together.”
And an amazing life it was, for some time, at least. “I just think we got lucky,” Fox later gushed in the March 2013 issue of Marie Claire UK. “I believe he’s my soul mate.”
And while that same year, at the Golden Globes, Green gushed about adding a girl to their genetically blessed brood (he’s also dad to son Kassius, 13, from a previous relationship), the former it couple are no longer planning their lives together. As Us Weekly exclusively revealed earlier on Wednesday, Aug. 19, Fox pulled the plug on their marriage months ago.
