Lindsay Lohan's father is in trouble with the law — again.
Michael Lohan was arrested Monday in Long Island, NY; the controversial celebrity dad has been charged with criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection, the Associated Press reports.
Lohan's crime: once again calling his ex-girlfriend, Erin Muller, who has a restraining order against him which forbids phone communication. TMZ reports that in April, Lohan was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill himself and Muller when she attempted to break up with him.
Lohan was quick to tell his side of the story to Usmagazine.com Monday. He says that the story of a suicide and murder threat "was proven false and was dropped." The embattled parent explains why he can't get into further detail about Muller's restraining order: "Because of a mutual confidentiality [agreement], Erin and I have I can only say that an order of protection was in place," he says. "Erin once again made a claim that will be proven wrong."
The divorced father of three tells Us that he has "taped conversations, pictures, videos and documentation which is being submitted to the authorities and courts" to disprove Muller's claims.
Still, he says he harbors no ill will towards his ex. "I wish Erin the best and hope she finds whatever it is, she is looking for. I spent over two years with her and came to love her and truly care for her and all she went through in her years prior to meeting me."
Lindsay Lohan, 23, is currently estranged from her father, who released explosive audiotapes of old family phone conversations in November. "I haven't had a real relationship w/Michael Sr. in years," she Twittered. "He's a deadbeat dad…He needs help." She also claimed that her father "threatened to kill" her mother Dina.
