The trio were talking to two DJs from Atlanta, Ga.'s Rock 100.5 Mornings, when they were presented with some seemingly objectionable questions. One DJ asked how their characters Johnny Storm (Jordan) and Sue Storm (Mara) could be related.

"From what I've seen, you're brother and sister," he asked.

"Right," Jordan, 28, replied.

"Am I missing something?" he persisted.

"No," Jordan firmly responded.

But the shock jock wouldn't give up that easily, continuing with his racially insensitive line of questioning.

"You're white and you're black. How does that happen?" he asked.

"They could be raised as brother and sister," Jordan replied. "There's a whole bunch of family dynamics that could be without the obvious adoption."

Though they let the Storms' backstories drop, the DJs didn't get any less distasteful as the second host turned to Mara, asking her about her recent pixie cut.

"You're way, way hot," he said. "Why'd you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful."

"This is a great interview," Mara, 32, joked to Bell before adding, "I cut my hair for a movie I just did."

"What would you cut your hair for?" the DJ continued.

"They asked me to!" she exclaimed. "I'm an actress. I have to be a chameleon."

But the DJ wouldn't let it drop, asking if Mara would grow her hair back before finally declaring, "I'm a toe guy, your toes are fine."

The actress simply responded, "Wow," before their team ushered the DJs out of the room.

DJ Jason Bailey defended himself after the interview to BuzzFeed in a statement, writing, "Look, not a huge fan of these controlled 5-7 minute interview junkets they run in the first place but I was curious about the brother and sister thing. You have a white sister and black brother wouldn’t you want to know how that happened? I did. The other Fantastic Four franchises explain the relationship so I figured with this new hipster version they’d have some different backstory."

He also noted that his partner, Southside Steve, was joking with Mara while Jordan had to take a phone call.

"My partner’s (Southside Steve) conversation about Kate’s hair is something that came up while Michael B. Jordan took a phone call so I think they were kind of just going back forth in a playful way," he continued. "As for him complimenting her toes and why people are upset about that…sorry…no idea. Steve likes girl’s toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented."
