Michelle Young got vulnerable about her recent struggles with her health in private.

“Not sharing as ‘proof’ of illness, but sharing so those who are quietly struggling feel seen 🫶🏾,” the former Bachelorette, 32, captioned a Sunday, April 19, Instagram slideshow she titled “What You Didn’t See.”

Young shared a photo of her out for a meal with husband Jack Leius during their honeymoon in Italy. While Young is smiling in the photo, she opened up about the quiet struggles she faced.

“What you didn’t see … the deep grief that came with having to leave our honeymoon early because I was too sick to continue,” she wrote. “The multiple IVs it took to get back to a normal color after returning home.

Young also included a snap of her Leius enjoying fireworks but the reality star revealed she had to rest “most of the day” to make it to the show.

Young’s health issues didn’t just affect her honeymoon but multiple events leading up to her wedding day including her proposal, bachelorette party, bridal shower and more. She added that she also quietly struggled during her nuptials.

“What you didn’t see … taking several breaks during the wedding because I felt lethargic,” she penned. “Being physically unable to get out of bed for the next seven days.”

Young concluded her post stating, “You don’t owe proof for what you’re carrying.”

Fans got to know Young on The Bachelor season 25 as the runner up on Matt James’ season. Young went on to become The Bachelorette for season 18. During the finale, which aired in 2021, she accepted a proposal from Nayte Olukoya. The pair ultimately split the following year.

Following her breakup, Young met Leius via a mutual friend. The couple began dating in 2023 and got engaged the following year. Young and Leius wed in June 2025. Five months after their nuptials, Young revealed that she was privately struggling with a series of health issues.

“For the last eight months to a year, I’ve been battling with extreme fatigue, brain fog, panic attacks, heart palpitations, hypoglycemia and POTs-like symptoms,” she wrote via Instagram in November 2025. “After a number of tests came back normal, we thought it could be stress and anxiety with the wedding.”

After the wedding, Young continued to experience the same symptoms and learned that she was “severely exposed” to mold.

“Thankfully, we did just move and know our new home is safe,” she continued. “But, clearly [I] was exposed to something (many things) in the past few years. Now, [I am] having to do an intense detox, along with many medications and IV therapy to help my body get rid of everything.”
