Mindy Kaling spoke with Howard Stern on Monday and revealed that her former Office co-star B.J. Novak remains the greatest love of her life.
"He broke up with me," Kaling, 35, told Stern. "It was years ago that that breakup happened."
The Mindy Project star said she wasn't mad at the time, but she was sad. So very, very sad. "That was the hottest I've ever looked because I stopped eating," she shared. "When I get depressed I stop eating. So I was so miserable and I was so beautiful. I remember waking up, barely getting out bed, and we worked together but I didn’t care. I had no makeup on, all of my clothes fit so well, but I was real miserable."
Though the relationship ended a long time ago, she still thinks about it. After all, when Stern asked if he was the best sex of her life, Kaling responded, "Oh, man. It was pretty damn good, yeah," adding that he was a "smart and funny guy." Speaking frankly, the actress also told Stern that she would have married Novak had he asked her back when they were a couple.
"Oh yeah. I was 24. For the record if anyone asked me to marry me I would have said yes," she explained.
The two starred for years together on the hit NBC comedy The Office, where they played Kelly and Ryan, two co-workers who really shouldn't have been dating.
But lest you think Kaling is still hung up on Novak, fear not. She told Stern that the two are "legitimately" best friends. "I love him. I think he's a great person, but I'm not holding a candle for B.J."
Stern, ever the understanding uncle, ended the interview with a faux attempt to make Kaling feel better, despite her feeling perfectly fine already. "We'll get you a boyfriend," he said. "Don't worry about it."
Gee, thanks, Howard.
