The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Zac Affleck is speaking out for the first time after his wife, Jen Affleck, filed for divorce.

“Hope she is happy in this next phase of life. Just focusing on my kids and figuring out what’s next for me,” Zac, 30, said in a statement to People on Thursday, November 5, adding that he will “always be Jen’s supporter.”

Two days earlier, Jen, 27, filed a petition for divorce from Zac after seven years of marriage. Us confirmed on Wednesday, November 4, that she also submitted a proposed parenting plan, the details of which are private.

Jen and Zac are parents to daughters Nora, 5, and Penny, 16 months, and son Luca, 3. She is currently expecting the estranged couple’s fourth child. The Dancing With the Stars alum announced in June that she and Zac were expanding their family, sharing a photo of her baby bump via Instagram. “Chapter Four. 🤍,” she captioned the post.

The pair’s ups and downs were a major story line on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered in 2024. Jen and Zac had a brief offscreen separation after facing challenges in season 1 but ultimately rekindled their relationship before the arrival of their third child, Penelope, in 2025. That same year, Jen shared that her marriage to Zac was “stronger than ever” after facing martial woes.

“[Our marriage is a] night and day difference at this point,” Jen exclusively told Us in 2025. “Every single day we tell each other, we’re like, ‘If we can get through this, we can get through anything.'”

Jen had recently returned to filming The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2 at the time, following her brief hiatus to focus on her mental health. From Jen’s perspective, returning to the show was important for her and Zac to “really just share [their] story” as a couple.

“I thought it was important to share a bit of the aftermath because that was kind of the reality of what was going on, and there was a lot that we were trying to navigate, but I also wanted to show that it’s just the reality of marriage sometimes,” Jen said. “Sometimes you go through a rough patch, and for some people it’s the end and it ends with divorce, and for other people they fight through it and it ends up being a blessing in disguise.”
