Another one of Hollywood’s power couples have called it quits. Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber confirmed to Us Weekly via a statement on Monday, September 26, that they’re separating after 11 years together. Find out more in the video above, and detailed below.
“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship,” their joint statement read. “While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
The pair started dating in 2005 and never married. They share sons Alexander “Sasha,” 9, and Samuel, 7.
During a 2011 interview with Easy Living, Watts explained their relationship. “We’re very much together. We just don’t have that certificate, and that’s OK with both of us,” she shared of their decision to not wed. “Maybe one day, we’ll just wake up and go, ‘Hey, let’s do this.’ And maybe not.”
The exes were last spotted out together with their kids in New York City on September 13.
Watts, 47, did not accompany Schreiber, 48, to the 2016 Emmys earlier this month. The Ray Donovan actor brought his eldest son, Sasha, instead.
