The Birdman actresses, along with Edward Norton, Amy Ryan, Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, and more, accepted the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. As per SAG tradition, the microphone was passed around from actor to actor, and Watts' speech kicked off with quite the spill.
After Keaton had addressed his peers, the St. Vincent nominee, 46, shuffled to the mic while Stone simultaneously adjusted the elaborate train of her black silk chiffon Dior Couture gown. Watts, who herself was wearing a chic navy blue gown by Balenciaga with a trim around her shoulders, fell over the back part of Stone's high-fashion number.
A mortified Stone made a wide-eyed expression as Watts lightly tripped, while instinctively (and dashingly!) put his hand out for Watts to take. Keaton appeared as if he was ready to leap over to the damsel in her moment of distress. A flushed Watts, luckily, caught herself from a near-disaster and laughed it off onstage.
Watts walked the red carpet on Sunday with her husband Liev Schreiber, who made fun of his wife's preparation for her role in St. Vincent. "She was doing it around the house constantly," he said of the Australian actress' linguistic training. "I’m Russian," he added with a heavy faux accent.
