It was a sad holiday this year for Neil Patrick Harris. The actor's beloved grandmother, Martha Jeanne, died on Christmas Day.
"My grandma passed away on Thursday night, services are today," Harris, 41, wrote on Instagram Tuesday, Dec. 30. "Martha Jeanne Harris was 92, lived a long, lovely life. We shared a birthday, 6/15. She'll be missed." The How I Met Your Mother alum also posted his paternal grandmother's "In Loving Memory" card.
One day before the tragic news, Harris celebrated Christmas Eve with his husband David Burtka and the couple's 4-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper.
"Merry Christmas Eve! Hope your night is filled with love – whether it be by romance, friendship, or random circumstance. 'Tis the season!" he tweeted at the time.
Later that night, he and his loved ones enjoyed a delicious meal at Mario Batali's Babbo restaurant in NYC. "Traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes. Delicious!" he captioned an Instagram pic of his adorable children. "Gideon and Harper are in holiday heaven. Thanks, Mario. #joy."
