Nikki Garcia is perfectly fine flying solo for the foreseeable future after her split from Artem Chigvintsev.
“I don’t fear being alone. I don’t have that fear if I never find a relationship or a husband or a boyfriend or a partner ever again,” Nikki, 42, said during the Monday, August 24, episode of her and twin sister Brie Garcia’s “The Nikki & Brie Show” on SiriusXM. “I’m completely at peace with that.”
Brie, also 42, shared that her sister’s stance on single life was “pretty big.”
“I don’t feel the need to have it,” Nikki explained of a romantic relationship. “I don’t need it.”
Brie asked if Nikki ever considered what her life would be like once 6-year-old son “Matteo is off to college” and she doesn’t have a partner to share her otherwise empty nest. Nikki explained that “of course” she has thought about being alone once Matteo leaves.
“Don’t get me wrong. At times I’d love to have attention [from] a man … like a little butt grab or something cute,” she said. “But it is crazy because you get into this place where you’re just doing your life and you don’t think about it a lot. I’m like, ‘Whoa, how am I there?’”
Nikki added that she spoke to another friend about how women are “so strong” and able to adapt to life’s inevitable changes.
“I know I’m on the right path because [of] how my whole life, where it’s at, what it’s become, who I am as a woman,” she reflected. “Don’t get me wrong. There are moments where I see how great it is to build a life with someone, especially as a parent and when you’re doing all the back to school stuff or different things happen … You realize like, ‘Oh, it would be great to build this with someone,’ but where I’m at now … not only am I walking with God, but my relationship is there, and so I’m so at peace.”
Nikki shared that while her top priority in life at the moment is not getting into another relationship, but she were to stumble across a worthwhile partner she’d consider the encounter a “plus.”
“I don’t need it. But if it happened, oh how amazing,” she said of a potential future romance. “But I don’t need it.”
While Nikki’s top focus is her son, she knows at some point their relationship will change as he gets older.
“Obviously one day it’s gonna come where Matteo isn’t gonna want to be with me 24/7 like he does now,” she shared. “I still love how affectionate he is with me in front of friends and stuff and he doesn’t care about, like, it’s not cool or whatever, but I know that day will come, and then, you know, it’ll be such a great time for me to hopefully find a relationship.”
The WWE star continued, “That would be great ‘cause I would love all those things. To have a glass of wine with someone, you know, in the evening and different things like that. Have great sex. Trust me. Even though I’m sister Nikki. One day I want to take off the black cape.”
Nikki was previously married to Chigvintsev, 44, from 2022 to 2024. The pair connected on season 25 of Dancing With the Stars in 2017 as partners on the competition series. Two years later, they started dating. They welcomed Matteo in 2020. Nikki filed for divorce from the professional dancer in September 2024 after he was arrested for domestic violence. The charges against Chigvintsev were later dropped and the exes finalized their divorce in November 2024.
