Just when you thought the day couldn't get any better! U.S. triple jumper Will Claye proposed to his girlfriend, hurdler Queen Harrison, after winning the silver medal at the Rio games on Tuesday, August 16.

Claye opened up about the engagement during an interview with NBC News. "Today was the day. I just knew today was going to be the best day of my life. When I woke up, I was like, 'I'm going to be engaged today. I'm going to propose to my best friend,'" Claye, 25, gushed.

"She's the one for me. I had to do it today. I felt like it was a special day," he continued. "She was supposed to be here running, but I think she's a little bit happier that she's here just to watch and to be my fiancée now."

According to NBC, Harrison, 27, won gold in the 100m hurdles at the Pan American Championships in 2015. She failed to qualify to compete in Rio, though.

The bride-to-be shared how bittersweet it was to cheer on Claye in Brazil on Monday. "Sun in the forecast. I won't lie it has been difficult to be in Rio and not be competing, but it's been EASY to draw motivation from all these amazing athletes and performances!" she captioned a pic of herself sitting next to the track and field. "I'm super excited for next season and beyond and I hope my #QUEENTEAM is too! Now let's cheer for #TeamUSA to finish out even stronger than we've already been!!"

Claye and Harrison weren't the only athletes to get engaged during the Olympics this week. Chinese diver Qin Kai proposed to fellow diver He Zi on the podium on Sunday.

"We’ve been dating for over six years. I didn’t know he would propose today, and I didn’t expect myself to marry myself out so early,” Zi told reporters, via Reuters. “I’ve forgotten most of what he’s said [during the proposal], but it’s largely what you can expect, like promises, but what touched me the most is that he said he was willing to be bullied by me for life.”
