The band is not breaking up! Several members of One Direction took to their Twitter accounts on Monday, Aug. 24, to address speculation that they were going on an indefinite break, reassuring fans that it was not the case. Not exactly, anyway.
Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne told fans via social media that the British boy band was simply "taking a well-earned break at some point" in the following year, but splitting up was not an option.

One Direction's latest decision comes in the wake of a very eventful year for the former group of five, including Harry Styles and former member Zayn Malik. In March, 22-year-old Malik called it quits from One Direction, breaking the hearts of Directioners worldwide. He also subsequently split from his fiancee, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, citing reasons of wanting to cut all ties with his former life.
In July, Us Weekly confirmed that Tomlinson, 23, was going to be a first-time father and was expecting a baby with his stylist friend Briana Jungwirth. "Louis didn’t expect this, but he’s excited for it now," an insider told Us at the time. "He’s become very close friends with Briana this year and now they are looking forward to being parents. He’s definitely going to be there and be a great dad for their baby."
While the other bandmates have addressed the ongoing speculation about One Direction's future status, one standout member, heartthrob Styles, has remained noticeably silent via social media as of Tuesday, Aug. 25.
