Robin Thicke and Paula Patton obviously have a lot of history—but do they have a future? The Baggage Claim actress, 38, wouldn’t say either way in a recent interview for Vanity Fair, but she did tell the magazine they had a “deep love” between them.
“We’ve known each other since we were teenagers,” Patton told the mag, for which she posed topless in a fur coat. “All I can tell you is there’s a deep love there—always was, and always will be.” She added: “He wasn’t my first kiss, but he was my first lots of other things.”
The couple—who married in 2005 and have a son together, 3-year-old Julian—announced their decision to separate back in February. “We will always love each other and be best friends,” they said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time.
Thicke, 37, was broken up about the split and announced his intent to win Patton back during a concert in Virginia just a few days later. “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated, but I’m trying to get my girl back,” he told fans, before dedicating his song “Lost Without U” to Patton. “She’s a good woman.”
The “Blurred Lines” singer’s father, actor Alan Thicke, weighed in on the breakup, too, telling Us, “We love them, they’re great people. Whatever they decide to do, it will be the right thing.”
