Model Paulina Porizkova and TV writer Jeff Greenstein are officially married — but it wasn’t a simple process.
Porizkova, 61, and Greenstein, 62, tied the knot in Italy and appeared to celebrate the nuptials in her native Czech Republic, the couple announced in a joint Instagram post with Elle Czech on Friday, July 10.
“Just married💍,” the post’s caption read.
Two days before the announcement, Porizkova and Greenstein, who is American, detailed their struggles with getting married in Italy as two expats.
“Getting legally married in Italy as an Italian is complicated enough,” the couple captioned a video in which they explained the legal obstacles they endured. “When you add the combo of two foreign people, you’re talking about roughly seven months of paperwork. And the fun seemingly never ends, even once you’re declared married.”
The caption continued, “We have so much to share with you all, but at the moment we’re also trying to see all of our loved ones who traveled some distances to be here, and just enjoy our favorite place with our favorite people. There will be lots more to come!”
Greenstein and Porizkova’s wedding came one year after the pair got engaged.
“He asked,” Porizkova captioned a video at the time.
Greenstein posted the same clip to his own Instagram, alongside the caption, “She said yes.”
Porizkova was previously married to singer Ric Ocasek from 1989 until they split in 2017. They were still legally married but separated when Ocasek died at age 75 in 2019. The exes shared sons Jonathan, 32, and Oliver, 28.
The Sports Illustrated cover star’s wedding to Greenstein came two months after she went viral for claiming that she was “evicted” from her apartment in New York City, which she had lived in since 2021.
“No matter how great a tenant I was for six years, he didn’t really want to give us an extension on the lease, even though I begged and pleaded,” she said on her and Greenstein’s “Twenty Good Summers” podcast. “And so we have to move out of here four days before we get married in Italy. Not great.”
Porizkova continued, “We’re starting over completely, both of us. Because we are about to move out of this apartment that I love so much, that has kept me safe, and where I’ve sort of grown up to be a woman, I feel.”
The author later clarified her eviction comments in an Instagram video.
“Strictly speaking, we’re not getting ‘evicted’ evicted,” she explained. “My lease expired, and my landlord just didn’t want to renew it for any amount of time except for a full year, which we didn’t want to do.”
Porizkova concluded, “So it’s really on us. I feel bad about all of you who have such great sympathy for us, when in fact, it’s privileged people problems.”
