Perez Hilton was able to celebrate daughter Mayte’s birthday while receiving mental health treatment following his hospitalization.

“We wanted to share an update on Perez and a special family milestone that meant a great deal to all of us. On October 4, Perez’s youngest daughter, Mayte, celebrated her 9th birthday,” read an update from Hilton’s family published via his website on Thursday, October 15. “Perez’s children and family were able to visit him at his residential treatment center to celebrate the occasion together.”

In addition to Mayte, Hilton, 48, is the father of son Mario, 13, and daughter Mia, 11.

“While this year’s birthday looked very different from years past, it was still an incredibly special and meaningful day,” the post continued. “Being able to celebrate Mayte’s birthday together was especially meaningful for Perez, who has missed being part of so many everyday moments with his children while receiving treatment.”

Mayte also got to have a second celebration with her cousins by her side as they enjoyed some ice cream cake.

The family shared that Hilton, 48, is continuing his treatment at the facility and “remains focused on his recovery with the support of his treatment team.”

“There’s still a long road ahead, but we’re grateful for the progress he’s made and the time he’s been able to spend with his family,” the family shared. “These past few months have brought challenges none of us could have imagined, but they’ve also reminded us of what truly matters. Above all, we’re grateful that Perez is alive, that he has the opportunity to continue healing, and that there are still many more birthdays and family milestones ahead.”

Hilton was hospitalized on August 4 following a disturbing livestream in which he appeared to engage in acts of self-harm. Miami-Dade police confirmed to Us at the time that officers responded to calls “regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media” and were dispatched to his home for what they suspected was a “possible suicide” attempt.

The blogger underwent surgery due to significant blood loss and remained in the hospital for several weeks before moving to an inpatient treatment facility.

Last month, Hilton’s family gave an update on how his recovery was going.

“After weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for his physical injuries, Perez entered a residential treatment program where he can focus fully on his mental health and recovery,” read a statement posted via Hilton’s website on September 14. “This was an important next step, but there’s still a long road ahead. Perez is expected to remain in residential treatment for several more weeks, potentially longer, depending on what his treatment team believes is best for his recovery.”
