Perez Hilton’s TikTok account has been banned following his disturbing livestream and subsequent hospitalization, Us can confirm.
A U.S. spokesperson for TikTok told Us on Wednesday, August 5, that the social media platform’s automated moderation system flagged Hilton’s account within minutes of his troubling Tuesday, August 4, livestream, flagging it to the platform’s human moderation team for immediate review.
The company explained that a moderation error caused an initial delay in the livestream’s removal, though it was eventually taken down. (TikTok also noted that the livestream was approximately 15 minutes long.)
According to the spokesperson, TikTok alerted law enforcement to the livestream on Tuesday and the site has deactivated Hilton’s account.
The celebrity blogger, 48, has also been banned by TikTok, with the spokesperson telling Us that Hilton’s livestream content related to self-harm violated the platform’s community guidelines.
Us has reached out to Hilton’s rep for comment regarding the status of his social media accounts.
TikTok’s swift action comes one day after Hilton went live from his home in Miami, appearing to commit serious acts of self-harm.
The disturbing upload resulted in multiple calls to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) from concerned fans and viewers, citing a “possible suicide” attempt at Hilton’s home.
“The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media,” the department told Us in a statement after the incident. “Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside.”
Officials added, “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize deescalation by creating time, distance and opportunities for communication. At this time, deputies have tactfully disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation.”
Us later confirmed that Hilton was transported to a hospital in Florida for medical care.
“The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement shared with Us on Wednesday morning.
The statement continued, “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
Hours later, Hilton’s family released a statement regarding his condition.
“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the statement released on Hilton’s website read. “We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being.”
The message concluded, “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support.”
Hilton’s agent, Dante Rusciolelli, also spoke out following the health scare, telling Us in a statement on Wednesday, “At this time, we do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition.”
He noted, “Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time.”
