Is Pippa Middleton the princess of party faux pas?

It looks like she might be headed in the direction. According to the Daily Beast, Duchess Kate's kid sister is in the process of getting a $1.5 million deal to write a party planning book. But Pippa's attempt to cash-in on her family's party planning business and her sister's fame isn't setting well with the public.

"The sight of minor royals and royals-in-law… cashing in on their regal connections irritates the Great British public at the best of times," Daily Beast writer Tom Sykes explains. "But there could scarcely be a worse time for Pippa to be hawking a $1.5 million book deal around the publishing world."

Sykes goes on to tout statistics of England's struggling economy and highlights "very real fears the country may be slipping back into recession."

He points out that it's "hardly the perfect moment, culturally, for a privileged young lady who will one day be the queen’s sister to be bringing out a guide to entertaining in style, especially when Kate is the woman who can do no wrong, engaging in thoroughly worthy pursuits such as raising the profile of UNICEF in drought-hit Kenya."

Pippa, 28, and Kate's parents Michael and Carole do own a successful mail-order party shop, Party Pieces. Pippa has also worked in the field of public relations. But as Sykes points out: "One might have thought that young Pip would recall the basic rule of [the public relations] industry: try not to make the public hate you."
