That face! Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William released new photos of their adorable son, Prince George, in honor of his 3rd birthday on Friday, July 22.
The portraits were taken by Matt Porteous at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s home in Norfolk, England, in mid-July. In the pics, Princess Charlotte’s big brother plays with the family’s dog, Lupo, and explores the outdoors. He even gets adventurous by standing on top of a wood swing, which includes an engraving that reads “William & Catherine.”
The future king managed to stay spotless — and stylish! — for the special shoot. In one pic, he wears a whale print sweater ($29.40) and beige taupe shorts ($36) from Pepa & Co. He then switches into a light blue striped T-shirt and jean shorts.
“The Duke and Duchess thank everyone for all the lovely birthday messages they have received for Prince George,” Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account posted. “Can’t believe it’s been three years already!”
“The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs. They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his third birthday,” the palace added in a press release.
In November 2015, Prince Charles said that his grandson loves the outdoors. “He’s one of those characters, I think, who naturally, instinctively, likes to be outside,” he told Sky News. “It’s very interesting. I’m intrigued to see if it lasts, but he loves being outside, which is encouraging.”
Indeed, it has! According to Porteous, Prince George’s outing was a delight to be a part of. “I really enjoyed the opportunity to take these photographs of Prince George. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere,” he stated in the release. I’m honored that they have decided to share these images with the public to mark his third birthday.”
The royal couple have yet to divulge how they will celebrate the big day. Last year, they held a small gathering at their Anmer Hall country home for Prince George’s 2nd birthday. Guests included Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Carole, Michael, Pippa and James Middleton.
