“PRINCE ROGERS NELSON::PASSPORT PICTURE 2/11/16,” he captioned the image, in which he stares directly at the camera, stone-faced with pursed lips.
The “Purple Rain” singer sports an impressive afro in the image, as well as perfectly curled eyelashes and his trademark mustache and goatee. He wore a colorful T-shirt topped with a patterned black blazer for the snap.
Perhaps equally impressive is the fact that it hits all government requirements for how a citizen should appear in an image to be used in a U.S passport:
1. In color
2. Taken within the last six months to reflect your current appearance
3. Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background
4. Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera
5. Taken with a neutral facial expression (preferred) or a natural smile, and with both eyes open
The self-proclaimed High Priest of Pop indeed looks nonplussed in the photo, with an impressively somber expression on his face.
The mysterious musician, 57, is currently on the Australia leg of his world tour, which he kicked off on Tuesday, February 16. He will be visiting the U.K., Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Spain, among other countries.
“Why do this now? For several reasons,” he said in a statement earlier this year about hitting the road again. “For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected 4 over thirty years. You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”
