Rachael Kirkconnell is celebrating ex Matt James’ BFF Tyler Cameron decision to pop the question.
“I am NOT OK,” Rachael, 29, commented on Tyler’s Saturday, August 15, Instagram post announcing his engagement to Tate Madden.
Tyler, 33, shared a series of photos of him proposing to Tate on the beaches of Little Palm Island, Florida. In one photo, Tate, 32, was all smiles as Tyler got down on one knee, while another image showed the happy couple hugging after the moment.
“Better late than never they say,” he captioned the upload, which was jointly posted with Tate.
Before Tyler and Tate began their relationship, Rachael met Matt, 34, on season 25 of The Bachelor in 2020. As the season was airing the following year, Rachael and Matt split after her past racially insensitive actions resurfaced. The pair ultimately rekindled in 2021 and pursued a romance outside of the show.
While Rachael and Matt were dating, the former Bachelor raised eyebrows when he referred to his girlfriend’s relationship with Tyler as “love-hate” in 2022. Later that year, Tyler clarified Matt’s sentiment.
“We just have our own ways of clashing. I don’t like listening to people sometimes. And she’s strong and she has a really good opinion on a lot of things. And sometimes I don’t want to hear it,” Tyler told Us in July 2022 about his dynamic with Rachael. “They’re very happy and I think we clash just because we’re both passionate people in what we believe in. But we’ve also learned from each other, so that’s good.”
Less than three years later, Matt announced his split from Rachael in an Instagram post. Rachael, for her part, told Us later that year that the split came “out of nowhere.” Tyler, meanwhile, thinks Matt has “regrets” about the post.
“It was weird,” Tyler said during a June 2025 episode of the “Viall Files” podcast. “It transcended my beliefs and understandings. I love Matt, I still love Matt to this day. Once things like that blow up in your face, sometimes it’s best to let it go past.”
In the months since her split from Matt, Rachael has been spotted spending time with Tyler and Tate — including at “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper’s Unwell Weekend in Miami.
“I am too @unwell to post anything significant from the weekend so here’s a dump,” Tyler captioned an Instagram post in March 2025, while sharing photos with Tate, Rachael and Bachelor Nation’s Maria Georgas.
