Redmond O'Neal is in trouble with the law yet again.
The 26-year-old son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett was pulled over in Santa Monica early Tuesday morning for running a red light. During the traffic stop, officers discovered heroin in O'Neal's car.
O'Neal was booked for the red light infraction, violating felony drug probation and possession of a controlled substance, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis told The Los Angeles Times.
O'Neal — who was not under the influence at the time of his arrest — was booked and held without bail pending a Thursday court appearance. Because he was on felony probation, O'Neal could be sent back to prison.
"It's a really sad situation," a source close to the O'Neal family tells Us Weekly. "To say Ryan is disappointed is an understatement. The entire family is obviously very distressed about this."
O'Neal — who has battled addiction issues since his teens — was jailed in 2009 after he was caught with heroin during a routine security check at the Pitchess Detention Center. He was granted temporary leave to attend his mother's funeral after she died of cancer in June 2009.
