Bend and snap — and she’s back! Reese Witherspoon dressed up as her beloved Legally Blonde character, Elle Woods, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and shared the picture on Instagram to show her support for a fan with cancer.
“This is for one of the strongest little four-year-olds I can imagine, ” the Oscar-winning actress, 38, wrote alongside an image of her dressed in Elle Woods’ signature pink palette, complete with pearls.
“Will — I hear that you’re fighting so hard and strong against cancer and that in the hospital you’ve been watching a lot of Legally Blonde and loving it,” Witherspoon continued. “I hope it makes you laugh!”
In the pic, Witherspoon holds up a handmade sign which reads: “Get Better Soon! #TeamWill,” with Witherspoon’s autograph.
“I wanted you to know that I made this sign in your honor,” the star said. “I’m sending a big big hug and my hope and prayers. Just know — I’m a really big fan of YOURS! PS anyone else — feel free to make your own sign for Will and post it with the hashtag #TeamWill so he can see it….I’m sure he’d love that!”
Legally Blonde marked a turning point in Witherspoon’s career. The Cruel Intentions actress secured her rank as a leading lady after starring as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy.
In January, the mom to Ava and Deacon Phillippe (her kids with ex Ryan Phillippe) co-hosted a fundraiser with husband Jim Toth called Hollywood Stand Up to Cancer. She will participate in the 2014 Stand Up to Cancer Telecast, a live one-hour fundraising event, on Sept. 5.
