Rick Ducommun has died at 62, the Hollywood Reporter confirms. The actor passed away in hospice in Vancouver, Canada, on Friday, June 12. According to his wife, Leslie Ducommun, he had a "serious complication from diabetes."
Ducommun began his acting career in the early '80s, and often did stand-up. Back in 1989, he showed off an impressive 200-pound weight loss, going from 426 to 216 pounds.
The native of Prince Albert, Canada is perhaps best known for playing Art Weingartner opposite Tom Hanks in the 1989 comedy The 'Burbs. He's also appeared in Die Hard, Small Soldiers, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and the 1993 classic Groundhog Day.
"RIP Rick Ducommun," The 'Burbs director, Joe Dante, tweeted on Wednesday. Ducommun's family also wrote from the actor's personal Twitter account. "We are sad to say beloved comedian, actor, family man, and all around amazing guy Rick Ducommun has passed away," the comment read. "Laughing forever. #RIPRICK."
