It's a tough time for Robert Downey Jr.'s family. The star's son Indio Downey was arrested on Sunday, June 29, while in West Hollywood, Calif.
Indio, 20, was allegedly in a car with two other people when the vehicle was pulled over by police officers and the actor's son was found with cocaine in his possession.
"Saturday afternoon around 2 pm, [Indio Downey] was a passenger in a car," an official with the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department tells Us Weekly. "It was stopped by a sheriff's deputy because it appeared he was using narcotics paraphernalia to ingest. He was stopped, investigated and found to be in possession of that paraphernalia and a controlled substance believed to be cocaine."
According to TMZ, the car was stopped because a passenger was seen smoking from a pipe. Indio was then searched and arrested on charges of cocaine possession. He was reportedly released late on Sunday evening after posting $10,000 bail.
Downey Jr., 49, spoke out following his son's arrest. The Iron Man star, who famously struggled with addiction in the past (including jail time), said in a statement to Us Weekly, "Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it."

"There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being," he continued to Us. "We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
