Rosie O’Donnell is looking back on happier times with her daughter Chelsea amid recent legal woes.
Rosie, 62, shared a photo via her Instagram account on Thursday, December 5, showing her, Chelsea, now 27, and Rosie’s daughter Dakota together, with Dakota wearing a crown with her name on it.
She captioned the photo “before it began #changes.”
In addition to Chelsea and Dakota, 11, Rosie is mother to daughter Vivienne, 22, and sons Blake, 25, and Parker, 29. She is also grandmother to Chelsea’s four kids, son Atlas, 14 months, and daughters Avery, 2, Riley, 3, and Skylar, 5.
Her post came days after Rosie confirmed that Chelsea had been arrested for the third time in three months on November 18. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Chelsea was arrested in Niagara, Wisconsin after police stopped her car due to loud exhaust.
She allegedly had a “clear smoking device” hidden in her bra, which contained residue that tested positive for methamphetamine. A further search at the Marinette County Jail showed Chelsea was also hiding a prescription pill bottle, a clear bag of with crystal-like substance, a clear bag of hydrocodone, eight loose hydrocodone pills, 16 lamotrigine pills plus one whole and three halves of Alprazolam pills.
Police also found Naloxone, which can be used to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose, in her trunk.
“So yes this is true,” Rosie wrote while sharing a screenshot of a reporter requesting comment on Chelsea’s arrest via Instagram on Tuesday. “After being bailed out by her birth mother – Chelsea was arrested again – and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction. We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around.”
Chelsea is currently facing five charges, including two felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and an additional felony count of possession of narcotic drugs. After becoming “argumentative,” according to court documents, she was also charged with resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, which are both misdemeanors.
Chelsea’s November arrest came days after a court ordered her to “maintain absolute sobriety” while out on bail. That meant she was not allowed to consume alcohol or possess any illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia or controlled substances without a valid prescription. The court adjusted her bail to $4,000.
Court records show that she appeared in court via video conference on Monday, December 2 and remains in custody. Her next court date is scheduled for December 12.
