Sarah Palin Breaks Silence About Bristol’s Second Pregnancy: “I Can’t Wait” to Welcome My Granddaughter

Grandma Palin cannot be more excited. Sarah Palin, who will soon be grandmother to a baby girl, broke her silence to CBS News about her daughter Bristol‘s second pregnancy in an interview on Sunday, Nov. 15.

“Bristol is pregnant again,” CBS correspondent Tracy Smith noted to the former Governor of Alaska. “That can’t be how you saw this playing out, unmarried and pregnant again.”

“Heck, no!” Palin replied. “Being a single mom is . . . oh my goodness. My heart goes out to the single parents, but my enormous admiration for what they’re able to accomplish doing double duty. And I watch Bristol do double duty all the time with her little boy, Tripp.”

Palin, 51, added that she’s excited for the new addition. “I can’t wait for about 45 more days and I’m going to have a little baby granddaughter,” the former Republican vice presidential candidate said. “And I’m happy about it.”

Smith, however, pointed out the possible hypocrisy of Palin’s statements, given her conservative values. “There are those who say, ‘Come on, this goes against everything you stand for,'” the CBS reporter noted.

“Well, the cool thing about putting your faith in God . . . is he certainly is a God of second chances and third and fourth and fifth chances,” Palin replied.

A month after abruptly ending her engagement to Dakota Meyer in May, 25-year-old Bristol announced that she was expecting her second child. The pregnant DWTS alum, who shares 6-year-old son Tripp with her high school sweetheart and former fiancé, Levi Johnston, revealed last month that she’s expecting a baby girl.

While her pregnancy announcement caused a bit of an uproar at the time, Bristol told her followers in her initial post that she was trying her best to be positive. “Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one,” Bristol wrote in her blog. “I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.”
