Shia LaBeouf is finally getting help following his latest arrest in New York City. However, the troubled 28-year-old actor is not in rehab.

"Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction," his rep said in a statement released on Tuesday. "He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time."

The Nymphomaniac star was taken away in handcuffs from a Broadway performance of Cabaret on Thursday. LaBeouf was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, and harassment. A spokesperson for the NYPD would not comment if drugs or alcohol were involved.

On Tuesday, X17online posted photos of the actor leaving his Hollywood Hills home carrying The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. And that's a good thing because something clearly needed to change.

LaBeouf has had multiple run-ins with the law. In 2007, he was arrested in Chicago when he refused to leave a Walgreens while intoxicated. However, the charge of misdemeanor criminal trespassing was dropped. The following year, he was arrested again on suspicion of drunken driving after an early morning car wreck in which the actor injured his hand and knee. He has also been involved in multiple bar scuffles.
