Simone Biles is taking the next step towards recovery.
Biles, 29, took to Instagram on Thursday, July 23, to share that she was back in the hospital after detailing a terrifying health scare in June. In the black-and-white photo, she wore a hospital gown and shower cap to cover her hair. She gave the camera a smile while sitting next to her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens.
“His birthday but he takes me to get my procedure 🥹🥹🥹🤍🤍🤍,” she captioned the post. “I woke up singing BossMan Dlow’s ‘Talk my Shit’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣.”
Biles previously opened up about her medical emergency on June 6, writing via Instagram, “I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age, but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card this week.”

She continued, sharing a photo of herself wearing multiple hospital bracelets, “This was one of, if not the, scariest experiences of my life.”
While she did not disclose details of her health scare, Biles got candid about wishing Owens, 31, was at her side. “Jonathan was in Indy for practices,” she explained of his duties with the Indianapolis Colts. “I’ve been in bed resting this week.”
She added, “I’ll explain sooner or later, but [shout out] to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited or sent flowers 🤍🤍🤍, Love y’all.”
Later that month, Biles got some much-needed R&R while soaking up the sun in a bikini. At the time, she showed off her “And still I rise” chest tattoo.
Biles previously spoke about the meaning behind her ink, sharing it was a reminder of her resilience. “Before I got this tattoo, it was a saying that I loved — obviously, Maya Angelou — and I was like, ‘And still I rise is perfect,’ because I feel like that’s kind of the epitome of my career and my life story,” she explained during her Netflix series, Simone Biles Rising. “Because I always rise to the occasion, and after all of the traumas and downfalls, I’ve always risen.”
Biles and Owens met on the dating app Raya in March 2020. In August of that year, they made their relationship Instagram official. Two years later, Owens got down on one knee and proposed to Biles on Valentine’s Day. In April 2023, the duo tied the knot during a civil ceremony in Houston, Texas, and later celebrated their wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the following month.
