Simone Biles Made Sure to Take Her Gold Medal With Her on Fire Drill

Protect the gold! Simone Biles made sure to take her gold medal with her during a fire drill in the Olympic Village in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Wednesday, August 10, in a hilarious Snapchat video that she shared with fans.

In the clip, the 19-year-old gymnast makes faces at the camera as she clutches her medal while the fire alarm goes off in the background.

“When fire alarm take medal,” she captioned the video as she and the rest of the “Final Five” — Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian — evacuate the building, along with the rest of the athletes.

The spunky medalist later took to Twitter to reassure concerned fans that everything turned out just fine. “When a fire alarm goes off in your building, grab your medal and gym bag. #everythingisokay,” she tweeted.

Biles and Raisman, 22, are in the midst of competing in the women’s individual all-around competition on Thursday, August 11, after beating out teammate Douglas, 20, to qualify for the event. (Only two athletes per country are allowed to compete.)

Biles has been receiving some well-deserved support from family, fans and celebrities alike since the Olympic Games kicked off on Friday, August 5. Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift have both offered their words of support, but one particularly special voice has made himself heard amid all the congratulations.

On Tuesday, August 9, Biles’ celebrity crush, Zac Efron, tweeted at the all-star athlete: “Of course I’m watching the #FinalFive dominate the floor! #Rio2016 #TeamUSA.”
