As summer approaches, many people are investing more time and money into skincare — especially teens — but often without the guidance to do it right.
It’s a growing concern in the beauty industry: fueled by social media trends and influencer endorsements, teens are swarming stores and experimenting with potent ingredients like retinol and exfoliating acids — typically used for anti-aging — without understanding their effects, or the fact that they’re meant for older skin. The result, according to experts, can be irritated skin, clogged pores, and long-term damage.
To address the issue, Skin Experts has launched a new tele-esthetician program designed to provide people with professional advice at home. The initiative includes virtual appointments with Chief Beauty Officer Shelley Hancock, a 37-year veteran of the esthetics industry. Hancock, who began her career in dermatology and later opened her own skincare center, has spent the last two decades training other estheticians and testing skincare products to ensure they meet professional standards.
Through personalized online consultations, Hancock can help teens develop age-appropriate skincare routines, tackle issues like acne or damaged skin barriers, and avoid common missteps driven by online misinformation.
“Healthy skin starts from the inside,” Hancock says. “Hyaluronic is your friend. It draws moisture from within up to the surface of the skin and it also locks in moisture. This is exactly what we need to sustain a healthy skin barrier.”
Hancock also shared her favorite hydration routine using products from QUL, Skin Experts’ California-formulated luxury skincare line, which has been featured in Fortune and Star.
“I use QUL Luxury product line,” she says. “At night after cleansing with their Exfoliating Cleanser, I apply a thick layer of Firm & Hydrate Mask mixed with Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer. I massage that concoction in for a few minutes and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing well. Apply Night Repair Moisturizer followed up with a couple drops of GLO Serum. I like to finish it off with a spritz of Hydrating Rose Water Spray.”
Skin Experts, known for combining advanced skincare technology with plant-based, results-driven products, offers luxury, high-tech facials at accessible prices. With a mission to make professional-grade skincare available to all, the company hopes its new tele-esthetician service will help teens navigate skincare confidently — and with healthier, happier skin.
