Here comes the bride!
Sofia Coppola is getting ready to say "I do" to French rock star Thomas Mars, and the director is paying homage to her Italian roots with her beautiful ceremony!
Coppola, 40, and Mars, the singer of the band Phoenix, will tie the knot Aug. 27 in Bernalda, Italy, Women's Wear Daily reports. The small village is the hometown of Coppola's great-grandparents; the civil ceremony will be celebrated in the garden of Palazzo Margherita, a historical building on the city's main street that Francis Ford Coppola bought a few years ago and restored. "The ceremony will mark the end of renovations at the palace, which will soon be inaugurated as a resort, open to the public," Coppola's great-nephew Gaetano Russo told the site.
For the actual wedding day, Russo plans to screen scenes from both the bride and her father's movies on the facades of 10 buildings throughout the village.
The owner of Giardino Giamperduto, a chic country house nearby, said they're "already fully booked, and four of our 11 rooms have been reserved by people linked to the wedding." He added: "Even if Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter are superstars, they still remain our 'paesani' [compatriots] and we are proud of them."
Coppola was married to director Spike Jonze from 1999 to 2003. She and Mars have two daughters together: Romy, 4, and Cosima, 14-months.
